In a small saucepan, over medium low heat, melt your butter. It will take a couple minutes and it goes from melted to burnt fairly quickly, so keep an eye on it.
While you are melting the butter, add all of the dry ingredients to a medium bowl.
Mix well, making sure you don't have any baking soda clumps.
Once your butter is brown, add the butter and vanilla to the dry ingredients.
Mix well and then add the beaten egg.
Add the chocolate chips.
In an oven preheated to 325, take about a tablespoon of the dough and form into balls. Place on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet. flatten a little. They don't seem to spread much during baking. Bake for 8 minutes.
Take out of the oven a let cool. Once cooled some, eat that cookie.
