Sugar-Free Eggnog Latte

This Sugar-Free Eggnog Latte is creamy, cozy, lightly spiced, and perfect for the holiday season. It is made with coffee and homemade sugar-free eggnog for a festive drink that tastes like Christmas in a cup.

Pictured here is the way I made mine iced, with coffee, sugar-free eggnog, and a simple eggnog cold foam on top. I have not tested this recipe hot yet, but I included easy directions below if you want to try it warm.

If you love eggnog and coffee, this sugar-free eggnog latte is such a fun holiday treat.

It has the creamy richness of eggnog, the bold flavor of coffee, and those classic holiday spices like nutmeg, cinnamon, and vanilla. It feels like a coffee shop drink, but you can make it at home with simple ingredients and no sugar.

This is a great recipe to make after you have a batch of homemade sugar-free eggnog chilling in the refrigerator. Use it in your iced coffee, froth a little into cold foam, and sprinkle the top with nutmeg for a cozy holiday coffee that feels special without being complicated. Feel free to make it a little lighter with less heavy cream, it just won’t be as thick as typical eggnog.

Sugar-Free Eggnog

This recipe is perfect with homemade sugar-free eggnog. The eggnog already has cream, almond milk, egg yolks, sweetener, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg, so it gives the latte that classic holiday flavor.

Eggnog Cold Foam

The cold foam is made with a small amount of sugar-free eggnog and heavy cream. It froths into a creamy topping that makes the iced latte feel extra special.

Sweetener

Depending on how sweet your eggnog is, you may not need extra sweetener. Taste first, then add a little powdered sugar-free sweetener or liquid stevia if needed.

Spices

A sprinkle of nutmeg on top makes this feel extra festive. Cinnamon is also delicious.

How to Make an Iced Sugar-Free Eggnog Latte

This is the way I made the latte pictured.

Add ice to a glass.

Step 2: Add Coffee

Pour cold brew, chilled strong coffee, or cooled espresso over the ice.

Step 3: Add Sugar-Free Eggnog

Pour the homemade sugar-free eggnog over the coffee.

Stir gently. Add milk of choice to top it off, if needed.

Step 4: Make the Eggnog Cold Foam

In a small cup, combine:

  • 2 tablespoons homemade sugar-free eggnog
  • 1 tablespoon heavy cream or half and half
  • Tiny splash vanilla, optional
  • Tiny splash rum extract, optional
  • Pinch of nutmeg or cinnamon, optional
  • Extra sweetener, optional

Use a handheld frother to froth until thick and foamy.

Step 5: Top the Latte

Spoon or pour the eggnog cold foam over the iced latte.

Sprinkle with a little nutmeg or cinnamon and enjoy.

How to Make a Hot Sugar-Free Eggnog Latte

I have not tested this version yet, but this should work if you prefer a warm holiday latte.

Step 1: Brew the Coffee

Brew strong coffee or prepare 1 to 2 shots of espresso.

Pour it into a mug.

Step 2: Warm the Eggnog

Warm the sugar-free eggnog gently in a small saucepan or microwave.

Do not boil it. You just want it warm.

Step 3: Froth the Eggnog

Froth the warm eggnog with a handheld frother, blender, or whisk.

This step is optional, but it gives the latte a more coffee-shop style texture.

Step 4: Combine

Pour the warm eggnog into the coffee and stir gently.

Taste and add extra sweetener if desired.

Step 5: Top and Serve

Top with a sprinkle of nutmeg or cinnamon.

Serve warm.

Tips for the Best Eggnog Latte

Use strong coffee

Eggnog is creamy and rich, so strong coffee helps the coffee flavor come through.

Use chilled coffee for the iced version

If your coffee is hot, it will melt the ice quickly and water down the drink. Cold brew or chilled coffee works best.

Froth the cold foam well

A handheld frother works great for the eggnog cold foam. Froth until it looks thick and creamy.

Do not boil the eggnog

If you make the hot version, warm the eggnog gently. Boiling can change the texture.

Adjust the sweetness

If your eggnog is already sweet enough, you may not need anything extra.

Add nutmeg on top

A little sprinkle of nutmeg makes this taste and look extra festive.

Is This Eggnog Latte THM-Friendly?

Yes, this sugar-free eggnog latte can fit into a Trim Healthy Mama S setting when made with on-plan sugar-free eggnog and sugar-free toppings.

To keep it THM-friendly:

  • Use homemade sugar-free eggnog
  • Use unsweetened coffee, cold brew, or espresso
  • Use an on-plan sweetener if needed
  • Use heavy cream for the cold foam
  • Avoid regular sugar or sugary syrups

Because homemade sugar-free eggnog is made with heavy cream and egg yolks, this latte would be an S drink.

Can I Make This Dairy-Free?

This recipe uses homemade eggnog with heavy cream, so it is not dairy-free as written.

You could experiment with a dairy-free eggnog-style base using unsweetened almond milk and coconut cream, but the flavor and texture will be different.

I have seen dairy-free alternatives at the store that might be worth trying, especially if you aren’t a fan of coconut.

Can I Use Store-Bought Sugar-Free Eggnog?

If you have a store-bought sugar-free eggnog that fits your personal goals, you can use it.

However, homemade sugar-free eggnog gives you more control over the ingredients, sweetness, and flavor.

Can I Make This Ahead of Time?

You can make the sugar-free eggnog ahead of time and keep it chilled in the refrigerator.

For the iced latte, you can also brew coffee ahead of time and keep it in the refrigerator.

I would make the cold foam right before serving so it stays thick and foamy.
