Ingredients for Chocolate Covered Strawberry Overnight Oats
Overnight Oats Base
-
1½ cups old-fashioned oats
-
1½ cups milk of choice (almond, cashew, or dairy milk)
-
1 cup non-fat Greek yogurt
-
3 tablespoons chia seeds
-
3 tablespoons hemp hearts
-
1–2 scoops protein powder of choice (vanilla, chocolate, or strawberry – I used vanilla)
-
Sweetener of choice, to taste (if needed)
Strawberry & Chocolate Layer
-
1 cup strawberries, chopped (about ¼ cup per container)
-
1–2 tablespoons chocolate syrup per jar (homemade or store-bought; I used Hershey’s sugar-free chocolate syrup)
Hard Chocolate Shell
-
3–4 tablespoons on-plan chocolate chips
-
1 teaspoon coconut oil
How to Make Chocolate Covered Strawberry Overnight Oats
-
Layer the strawberries and syrup
Add ¼ cup chopped strawberries to each of 4 jars or containers. Drizzle 1–2 tablespoons of chocolate syrup over the strawberries in each jar to make a chocolate-covered strawberry base. -
Blend the oat mixture
In a blender, add oats, milk, Greek yogurt, chia seeds, hemp hearts, and protein powder. Blend until smooth and well combined. Taste and add your preferred sweetener if you’d like it sweeter. -
Pour and chill
Evenly pour the blended oat mixture over the strawberry and chocolate layer in each jar. Cover the jars and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best texture. -
Make the hard chocolate shell
Add chocolate chips and coconut oil to a small microwave-safe bowl. Heat in short bursts, stirring between each, until the chocolate is melted and smooth. -
Top with chocolate
Remove the jars from the fridge and carefully spoon the melted chocolate over the top of each one. Spread it into an even layer so it forms a thin shell. -
Chill again and serve
Return the jars to the refrigerator until the chocolate hardens. When you’re ready to eat, crack the chocolate shell with your spoon and enjoy your chocolate covered strawberry overnight oats.
Tips, Variations, and THM-Friendly Options
-
Use different protein powders (vanilla, chocolate, or strawberry) to change the flavor while keeping the base recipe the same.
-
Add a few extra chopped strawberries or a small dollop of whipped topping right before serving for a more dessert-like feel.
-
For a richer version, use a higher-fat yogurt or a creamier milk option that still fits your Trim Healthy Mama goals.
-
Make it kid-friendly by using their favorite chocolate syrup and serving in fun jars.
How to Store Overnight Oats
Store these chocolate covered strawberry overnight oats in airtight jars in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. The texture stays creamy, and the chocolate shell keeps its crunch until you’re ready to crack into it.
Chocolate Covered Strawberry Overnight Oats
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 C Oats, I use sprouted old fashioned
- 1 1/2 C Milk of Choice
- 1 C Non-fat Greek Yogurt
- 3 T Chia Seeds
- 3 T Hemp Hearts, optional
- 1-2 Scoops Protein Powder
- Sweetener to taste
- 1 C Chopped Strawberries
- Drizzle of Chocolate Syrup
- 3-4 T On Plan Chocolate
- 1 t Coconut Oil
Instructions
- Place 1/4 of the chopped strawberries in the bottom of each jar. Drizzle some chocolate syrup on top of the strawberries. I didn't get a picture of that.

- In a blender add all or part of the oats (it depends on if you want it smoother), milk, yogurt, chia seeds, and hemp hearts. Blend. Add protein powder. Blend. Taste. If it needs extra sweetener, add now. Blend again. Pour evenly into each jar, over the chocolate covered strawberries.

- Refrigerate if needed. If your mixture is too soft, the chocolate topping will sink in. Slowly melt the chocolate with the coconut oil.

- Carefully spoon the chocolate on top of each jar. Store in the fridge until ready to eat.

- Break the chocolate shell and dig in.
