Decadent Sugar Free Hot Chocolate
This sugar free hot chocolate is so easy, decadent, and perfect for cold days.
Winter just arrived here in Texas (it’s fall but somehow winter wanted to say hi). Having something hot and yummy to warm up with is perfect right now. This decadent hot chocolate was perfect!! You can now have delicious hot chocolate using simple ingredients in just minutes. My hubby liked it too!
I used granulated swerve and a doonk of stevia as my sweetener.
Use what sweetener you like. I am going to try using liquid stevia next time. I have to be careful with too much on plan sweeteners. We really like this one from Amazon (I believe you can get this at Kroger as well). Make sure you taste it before pour into your mug. If you add whipped cream or marshmallows, that will add some sweetness, but you don’t want it not sweet enough or bitter. Basically, just sweet enough, not too sweet if you are topping your hot chocolate with something sweet.
I add a little bit of chocolate at the end.
This isn’t necessary, but I really like that little bit of extra. I used half of a chocolate bar from Aldi. You can use any on plan chocolate that you like. I have to be careful with Lily’s but if you don’t, Lilys would be great.
This recipe technically serves two people. But, um I drank the whole thing! Share or don’t share, that up to you.
Easy and Decadent Sugar-Free Hot Chocolate
Ingredients
- 2 C Unsweetened Almond Milk
- 2 T Cocoa Powder
- 3 T Sweetener, I used swerve but use what you like
- 1 Doonk Stevia
- 1 t Vanilla
- 1 Pinch Salt
- A little on plan chocolate
- 2 T Heavy Cream
Instructions
- Mix Dry Ingredients together
- Add some of the almond milk and stir. Make sure everything is mixed into the milk. Cocoa powder is hyrdophobic. This makes mixing it in easier.
- Add the rest of the milk and whisk. Don't quite bring to a boil. Stir in heavy cream and vanilla. Add chocolate if you want to add it.
- Taste. If you like it, pour into a mug. Top with marshmallows or whipped cream. Enjoy.
