How to Make High-Protein Vanilla Ice Cream in the Ninja Creami
Step 1: Blend
Mix until completely smooth and slightly frothy. I found the bullet blender caused too much air to get into my mixture. I am working on an alternative.
Step 2: Freeze
Pour the mixture into your Ninja Creami pint. Freeze on a level surface for at least 8 hours or overnight.
Step 3: Spin
Insert the pint into your Ninja Creami and use the CreamiFit it your machine has it. Or Lite Ice Cream or Ice Cream setting.
Step 4: Re-Spin (If Needed)
If the texture looks crumbly after the first spin, add 1–2 tablespoons of milk and re-spin until creamy.
Texture Tips for the Creamiest Results
-
Xanthan gum is key for thickness—don’t skip it
-
A pinch of salt enhances the vanilla flavor
-
Re-spinning on the older machine is normal and expected
-
Let the pint sit out for 5 minutes before spinning if frozen solid or run water around the outside.
Is This Trim Healthy Mama Friendly?
Yes! This recipe can easily fit into a Trim Healthy Mama S or FP-style dessert, depending on:

Your protein powder

Your sweetener
It’s a fantastic high-protein treat that satisfies without triggering cravings.
Flavor Variations to Try
Once you master the vanilla base, try these easy add-ins:
-
Cinnamon or pumpkin spice
-
Sugar-free caramel drizzle
-
Crushed THM-friendly cookies
-
Fresh berries folded in after spinning
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I make high-protein ice cream without pudding mix?
Yes! This recipe uses xanthan gum for thickness instead of pudding mix, keeping the ingredient list clean and simple.
What protein powder works best?
A good-tasting vanilla protein powder is key. Whey, whey/casein blends, or THM-approved options all work well.
Why is my Creami ice cream crumbly?
This is normal after the first spin. Simply add a splash of milk and re-spin for a smooth, creamy texture.
Can I make this dairy-free?
Absolutely. Use unsweetened almond milk, cashew milk, or another dairy-free milk of choice.

I cooked some frozen cherries with a little water. Mashed them and added almond extract. I also chopped up a little, max 2 tablespoons of dark chocolate and added it.
You can watch me make the base on the video below. The blender I used caused too much air in the creami base. Use with caution. I ended up pouring some out.
