Low Carb Caramel Sauce
This caramel sauce is so good!! I have made this before and served it on cheesecake, pumpkin pie, even in my coffee. It is so good. When I served it at a family function with the cheesecake and no one knew it was sugar free. It was perfect with my trim healthy mama s vanilla ice cream. If you are struggling with finding sweets/desserts you like while following the trim healthy mama way of eating, give this ice cream a try and my black bottom cupcakes. The cupcakes were loved by my family as well. Finding thm desserts that my family eats is hard, I won’t lie. And I won’t lie and say they were loved by family if they didn’t like it.
A lot of my recipes can be adapted and adjusted to your taste and your family’s tastes. This one has very few ingredients and really needs to be followed as instructed. Before I followed the trim healthy mama eating plan I made browned butter frosting that topped pumpkin cookies. I had people ask me to make them every fall. That browned butter frosting was divine!! This recipe starts with browning the butter. It takes a little time to get the butter to the brown part but once it gets there, it can burn very quickly. You have to keep your eye on it once it gets past the light brown stage. If you burn it you will have to start over. You also need to have everything measured and ready to go, so once it gets to the brown butter part you can add everything. It isn’t a complicated recipe, but one that you can’t leave and go make your bed or do laundry while it’s on the stove.
Trim Healthy Mama S Caramel Sauce
Ingredients
- 1/3 C Butter
- 2/3 C Heavy Cream
- 3 T Brown Sugar Substitute I used Sukrin Brown
- 1 t Vanilla
Instructions
- Put your butter in a saucepan over low to medium low heat and melt.
- Once your butter looks like this,it's ready. Don't let it get darker than this, you don't it to burn.
- Add your heavy cream and brown sugar sub. Stir together and bring to a simmer over medium low heat until slightly thickened. This process can take about 15 minutes. You don't want it to boil, just reduce some. Add your vanilla once it has cooked the desired length of time.
- This will thicken in the fridge, you can either heat it up on the stove or in the microwave. This is really good and once you make it, you will see that this isn't complicated, it just takes a little time.
