Low Carb Hot Breakfast Cereal

Do you want a hot cereal that isn’t oatmeal? We are experiencing some cold weather in Texas and I wanted to something warm but I didn’t want oatmeal. I had hemp seed and ground flaxseed, so I thought I would try to make a hot cereal with these items. It turned out great. It reminds me more of a malto-meal than oatmeal, but it hit the spot.

Low Carb Hot Breakfast Cereal

Ingredients

  • Almost 3/4 C Unsweetened Almond Milk 1/2 Cup is too thick and 3/4 C is too liquidy
  • 1/4 C Shelled Hemp Seeds
  • 1/4 C Ground flaxseed
  • 2 pinches Salt
  • 1/4-1/2 t Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/2 t Vanilla
  • 3/4 T Gentle Sweet more or less depending on your taste
  • 1/4 C Blueberries opt You can choose other berries if you want

Instructions

  • Put almond milk in a small pot over medium heat.
  • Mix hemp seeds, ground flaxseed, and cinnamon in a small bowl.
  • Add bowl contents to milk and stir.
  • Add pinches of salt and sweetener. Stir.
  • Cook until thickened. It happens really fast. Stir in vanilla.
  • Pour into bowl and top with berries. My berries were frozen that’s why they have a little frost on them.

I wonder if adding a bit more sweetener and cocoa powder would make this taste like cocoa wheats?
