Sugar Free Chocolate Syrup

I used to make my own Hershey’s chocolate syrup. I thought it tasted so much better than the store-bought version. I had to be careful because I would use more than my kids. It made the best chocolate milk ever!!! Side note, I hate plain milk. I have never been a fan but chocolate milk? That was the best. I have been following the trim healthy mama way of eating for around 7 years. I have yet to make a version of the regular chocolate syrup that is trim healthy mama friendly. Today was the day. I finally tried making one and it turned out so good!!

This syrup was inspired by me wanting an iced mocha. After my morning walk, I honestly considered driving into town and buying one. Luckily, I talked myself out of it and came in and made me a homemade iced mocha.

I used this coffee from the trim healthy mama store.

This thm chocolate syrup can be used in the low carb or keto lifestyle as well. There are only a few ingredients needed to make this. It comes together so quickly too. I can see eating this with strawberries, sugar free marshmallows, ice cream, pound cake, coffee, etc.

I used swerve confectioners sweetener and 1 doonk, 1/32 teaspoon of pure stevia. The reason I used both sweeteners is because I find the erythritol based sweeteners and end up giving me a cooling effect. The chocolate syrup without the stevia was just a little too unsweet. That tiny amount of stevia really made it taste perfect. If you don’t have the pure stevia, you might want to add a little more of the sweetener that you used.

I used a small saucepan. If you aren’t careful, it will boil over. I had to take mine off the heat a couple times to prevent that from happening. This isn’t a recipe to leave too long and go do other things. This recipe comes together really fast so that shouldn’t be a big deal. This thm chocolate syrup really was so good and pretty close to my old sugar filled recipe. If you are looking for a replacement, give this recipe a try.
