THM E Italian Chicken Sausage and Pasta

This was another one of those meals where I had ingredients but I didn’t know what to make. When I bought the sausage I had other plans for it. I have been doing the instacart delivery and when I picked this chicken sausage, I thought it was in a casing and I would remove those and crumble the chicken. Nope, these are regular links. So I came up with another idea. It was really good and I plan on making this again.

This definitely a perfect dinner for a busy day. It comes together fairly quickly. I thought about adding some bell peppers to the sauce but changed my mind. If you like bell peppers, I would add them. They will add more vitamins and nutrients to the dish.

If you aren’t following the trim healthy mama eating plan, you can use regular pasta. If you fuel cycle, this recipe will be a perfect fit for you carb day. This is the pasta I used.

On trim healthy mama our spaghetti sauces need to have no added sugar. The tomatoes and other veggies might have their own sugars but the sauce can’t have any added. Here is the one I got from my Aldi.

This is such a quick and easy recipe. I plan on keeping a package or 2 of these chicken sausages in my freezer and the pasta and sauce in my pantry. On busy days I can throw this together fast or even have one of my sons get this made for dinner. I think with a different noodle, this could even be a fuel pull. I will look into this more and see if these can be a fuel pull.


  • 1 Pckg Italian Chicken Sausage, sliced
  • 1 Jar No Sugar Added Pasta Sauce
  • 1 Pckg On Plan Noodles

Any things you like to add to your sauce for more flavor: Minced garlic, onion or garlic powder, Italian seasoning, Parmesan cheese for topping


    • In a large skillet brown your sliced sausage.
    • After the sausage has browned, add sauce and any seasonings you want. Heat until hot and simmer for a few minutes.
    • Serve hot sauce over hot noodles. Sprinkle with some Parmesan cheese if desired.
