Trim Healthy Mama Fuel Pull Nacho Cheese Sauce

This trim healthy mama fuel pull nacho cheese sauce is hubby approved!

I have been trying new recipe using cottage cheese. It is high in protein and low in fat, carbs, and calories. We have used this nacho cheese sauce every day since I made it. Today I made up some breakfast tostadas using this burrito bowl recipe. We topped it with the fuel pull nacho cheese sauce to keep the tostadas an E fuel.

We made burrito bowls that we a trim healthy mama e and used the nacho cheese sauce as our cheese.

Using cottage cheese as the base for this sauce keeps it a fuel pull since low fat cottage cheese is a fuel pull. Every ingredient in this fuel pull nacho cheese sauce recipe is special ingredient free. I have some Anthony’s cheese powder coming, but this recipe doesn’t call for that ingredient. This cheese sauce could easily be used in so many recipes, including a fuel pull nacho cheese “hamburger helper”. This recipe and sparked so many different ideas, so keep your eye out for the new recipes.

We used the nacho sauce on top of our Carne Guisada tacos.

Honestly, this sauce is so versatile and can be used in just about any meal to add flavor without changing the fuel. A few tips: Go slowly with the seasonings. You can’t take any away but you can slowly increase the flavors. Cottage cheese is very mild and you can overpower the base quickly. Taste as you go so you don’t end up bland or too strong with the flavors. This recipe does call for nutritional yeast, but you can buy this at Walmart if you need to. Every ingredient can be found at a typical grocery store.  Pictured below are all of the ingredients I used to make the nacho cheese sauce. Here’s the recipe.

Trim Healthy Mama Fuel Pull Nacho Cheese Sauce


  • 1 C Low-fat Cottage Cheese
  • 3 T Nutrional Yeast
  • 3 T Drained Diced Tomatoes with Green Chilies
  • 1/2 t Tahini
  • 1/2 t Salt, add more later
  • 1 t Garlic Powder
  • Few Shakes Cayenne Pepper
  • 1/2 t Chili Powder, add more as needed
  • 1/4 t Smoked Paprika, add more as needed


  • Add everything to your blender- I use a bullet type blender. Blend until smooth. Taste and add. Go easy. Some of us like strong flavors and heat and others like it a bit more mild. Make this fit your flavor preferences. If you have any smokey type seasonings in your pantry, add a little of that. Again, just go slow.
  • Use in so many different recipes.

    I love this Nacho cheese dip, have made it several times. Great on tacos, today it was dip for our Lavash chips, it’s hard for me not to eat it by the spoonful like my 5 year old granddaughter does!

      It depends on the meal and the person. I have never used half of the recipe at one time. Serving sizes are personal, at least to me. I am short and what I eat is going to be different than someone who is bigger.
